Vice-Senior General Soe Win welcomes Deputy Chief of General Staff Department of Lao People’s Armed Forces Major General Pasith Thiengtham, with Guard of Honour; holds talks, hosts dinner

Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win accorded a guard-of-honour welcome to Deputy Chief of General Staff Department of Lao People’s Armed Forces Major General Pasith Thiengtham, who is on a goodwill visit to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, at a ceremony held at Zeyathiri Beikman here this morning.First, Major General Pasith Thiengtham arrived at the venue by car, and was welcomed by Vice-Senior General Soe Win.

Vice-Senior General Soe Win and Major General Pasith Thiengtham inspected the Guard of Honour, which later marched past them. It was followed by the bilateral introduction of senior military officers of both sides.

Also present at the ceremony together with the Vice-Senior General were Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and Myanmar Military Attaché (Army, Navy and Air) to Laos Col Kyaw Kyaw Min. The Lao Deputy Chief of General Staff Department was accompanied by senior military officers of the Lao People’s Armed Forces, Lao Military Attaché to Myanmar Col. Bounmyvieng Vienghouttasat and officials.

The Lao Deputy Chief of General Staff Department then signed the visitors’ book. Next, the Vice-Senior General and party met and held talks with the Lao delegation led by Major General Pasith Thiengtham at the Parlour of Zeyathiri Beikman.

Both sides cordially discussed further strengthening of the friendship between the two armed forces, extended exchange of training, exchange of information about border peace, stability and security and narcotic drugs, exchange of natural disaster and medical experts to share knowledge and undergo training, cooperation in security along Mekong River and exchange of visits of cultural troupes and sport contingents.

After the meeting. the Vice-Senior General and the Lao Deputy Chief of General Staff Department exchanged emblems and posed for Documentary photo together with delegation members.

The Vice-Senior General hosted a dinner to the Lao delegation led by Major General Pasith Thiengtham at Aureum Palace Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw. Before the dinner, the Vice-Senior General and Major General Pasith Thiengtham exchanged greetings and had dinner together with those present. During the dinner, Myawady Band under the Directorate of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare entertained the audience with songs and dances. After the dinner, gifts were exchanged. They then presented bouquets to the Myawady Band and posed for documentary photo.
