Tatmadaw security columns expose illegal extraction of Myanmar timber

While
the Tatmadaw columns were carrying out the regional security measures
in Manhsi Township, Bamaw District,Kachin State, they found suspected
routes,motor vehicles and piles of logs in the illegal extraction of
Myanmar timber near Khalan-Hteinnu-Manchan region via aerial
reconnaissance. Hence, they uncovered the illegal
extraction of timbers there to protect the use of resources of the
country against personal interest.
In so doing, the military
columns were able to seize around 86.5 tons of teak logs and various
sizes of sawn timber, 44 trucks,four-wheel loaders and one backhoe, and
arrest two Myanmar nationals and 13 Chinese nationals in nearby areas of
Khalan-Hteinnu-Manchan region, Manhsi Township from March 29 to April
5.
The Tatmadaw security columns have transferred the detainees,
illegal wood and motor vehicles to the township forest department
concerned and are pursuing the works to protect the illegal extraction
of timber against personal interest.
